Unable to Load Sony a7S XAVC S to FCP X

In this article, I put together a working workflow for Sony a7s XAVC S footage in Final Cut Pro X.

Recently I acquired the Sony a7S and I’m more than glad with its performance. One nagging thing about it, more specifically, the XAVC S codec is the problem with getting an edited sequence into Final Cut Pro X. So, what’s the best workflow for Sony a7s XAVC S to Final Cut Pro X?

XAVC-S is a highly compressed long-GOP codec. Nice to have small files even with 4k/UHD but it will stress your processors no matter which NLE you choose. If your NLE works fine with the files, there’s no need to convert prior to editing. Nevertheless I would choose ProRes or a similar all-I codec for editing purposes in Final Cut Pro.

To transcode Sony A7S XAVC S to ProRes, here we highly recommend Brorsoft Video Converter for Mac to all of you which can deal with heavy XAVC S files to ProRes as well as MPEG-2 for Premiere Pro, DNxHD for Avid MC/Davinci Resolve, AIC for iMovie and so on. Moreover, this ideal converting tool is equipped with basic editing functions including trimming, cropping, adding watermark, removing audio and more. Now, download the software and follow the guide below to start conversion.
